New Tax Law Updates applicable from 1 July, 2021:

Are you ordering something online outside the EU, for example in the US, China or the UK?
Then you may incur additional costs. Some costs are already clear in advance, for example shipping and insurance costs. But sometimes costs are still invisible when you purchase - and you still have to pay them when your package is delivered. Because not every webshop mentions all additional costs on the site. Pay close attention to that.

Keep in mind:

You always have to pay that, from July 1 there will be no more VAT exemption for packages up to € 22. Count on 21% VAT, a reduced rate of 9% applies to a number of products. For books, for example.

Import Duties:
Is your purchase amount € 150 or more? Then you also pay import duties. Count on 0 to 12% import duties. View the import duties and VAT for frequently purchased products.

Customs Clearance Fees:
These are costs that your parcel deliverer incurs to file a declaration with Customs for the import declaration. These are fixed amounts that differ per delivery person - they can tell you more about it.

How do I pay the extra costs?
Sometimes you already pay additional costs at the webshop. But costs that you have not yet settled, you pay to your delivery person. 'Clearance costs' for example or import duties. Your delivery person usually sends a payment request for this, and sometimes you pay at the front door.
